Natural Deodorant | Why you need to make the switch & which brands to trust

After my mom went through chemotherapy & radiation during her journey with breast cancer, I adopted a new outlook on life. When you or someone you love goes through that type of experience, it is impossible to not stop and count your blessings and then reflect on decisions you have made and how you can do better.

For me, I learned that life is short (a cliche life lesson, I know), but this was huge for me, as I was definitely the type of person that used to sweat the small stuff...No pun intended.

Now that I am an adult, I understand how lucky I am that my mom entered remission and stayed cancer-free, as I have been witness to this same disease taking lives of some of the greatest people I have known. These losses have broken my heart and made me understand that life is so precious and we should never take small moments for granted.

I have carried this philosophy through all facets of my life including business, love and friendships. I tend to avoid confrontation that is not absolutely necessary, take mental notes rather than engage in arguments, and focus on the big picture rather than life’s daily “stressors”. I think this outlook has been the main driver of my success and for that I am thankful.

My mothers journey also evoked a new path for myself and my family towards a holistic and organic lifestyle. While we were always healthy eaters, we were never committed to being truly organic when it came to food we were consuming or products we were putting on our bodies.

When it came to Deodorant specifically, I had never really thought that drug store brands could be that harmful... could they be?

The short answer: absolutely. Most big-box deodorant brands contain aluminum, which has been linked directly to breast cancer. If you think about it, you are putting a substance directly on your pores, which then soaks into your skin as you sweat. Whatever is in your deodorant will be in your body, so why treat it differently than food?
