I don’t know who needs to hear this right now... My hair has taken the hardest hit in self isolation!
As much as I’d love to say my blonde is natural, it’s 100% not and without my hairdresser working his magic in light of Covid-19, my roots are always showing!
The constant uphill battle for healthy blonde hair is real one. It has taken me years and some serious commitment to finally have long and healthy blonde hair (not to mention a solid investment in Moroccan oil and Olaplex)! I’ll do another post on that soon, as that is a whole other topic.
For now, I’ll just try to focus on my root dilemma...
”How long do roots have to get before it‘s classified as ombre?”
I‘ve been toying with the idea of dying my own hair, but after doing some serious digging into the depths of google, I’ve learned that box dye could seriously damage your hair if you don’t know what you are doing (aka. thats me)!
Eventually, I reached out to my girlfriend who always has healthy and very enviable locks and asked her about my options. I knew that she has been dying her own hair at home for ages and I trust her opinion. She told me that the coloured dyes she had been using are temporary and that most of them wash out in 5 washes. I was sold!
She recommended a few brands but the one that I just ordered is the Moroccan Oil Color Depositing Mask from Sephora in the color Rose Gold. It looks really similar in color to the below photo, which is just an app I used to see if I could pull off pink hair :p

She also recommended the Kristen Ess Rose Gold Temporary Tint. In Canada it is sold through the website “well .com” but I noticed that it sold out a few days ago.

For now, I’m patiently awaiting the arrival of my temporary rinse in the mail and will provide another update once I’ve taken the plunge and used it.
While I chose the Rose Gold option, there are several other colours to chose from by thr Morocco Oil brand if you are itching to play with colour & could see pastel tones working for your hair.
Although these rinses aren’t a permanent solution for my hair dilemma, I think the temporary change will take my mind off of my roots for the time being. Plus, if you have a corporate or formal job that forbids fun hair, now is the time to do it!
